I am someone who is looking for love. Real Love. Ridiculous… inconvenient… consuming.. “can’t live without each other” love.
— Carrie Bradshaw -SATC
The Size Zero Myth:
Love is overrated. The script writers from TV-series over-do it when it comes to writing romantic lines. They sound so unrealistic. The kind of love they describe on-screen does not exist in reality.
The Wise Hero Reality:
When we are single and see couples engrossed in love, be it in real or on TV, we feel it’s too cheesy and over-rated. But when you find your true soulmate (yes, they do exist), you would want to share these lines with that special soul who makes you feel complete and is the reason why your heart feels so in love.
1) Greys Anatomy:
“Maybe I do believe it, all this ‘meant to be’ stuff. Why not believe it, really? Who doesn’t want more romance in their life? Maybe it’s just up to us to make it happen. To show up and be meant for each other.”
— Meredith Grey – I Was Made for Lovin’ You, Season 9, Episode 7
2) How I Met Your Mother:
“Actually, there is a word for that. It’s love. I’m in love with her, okay? If you’re looking for the word that means caring for someone beyond all rationality and wanting them to have everything they want no matter how much it destroys you, its love! And when you love someone y-you just don’t stop. Ever“.
—Ted Mosby – Sunrise, Season 9, Episode 17
3) The Mindy project:
“You know you are right for someone when they force you to be the best version of yourself”.
—Danny Castellono – The Desert, Season 2, Episode 14
4) Sex and the City:
Ludwig Van Beethoven’s love letter to his beloved-that end’s with:
“No one else can ever possess my heart – never – never – Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves … Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men …
My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every day – therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once …
Be calm – love me – today – yesterday – what tearful longings for you – you – you – my life – my all – farewell. Oh continue to love me – never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.
—Carrie Bradshaw – Sex and the City movie
This was first brought to my attention in the Sex and the City movie, where Carrie reads to Big from the book ‘Love Letters of great Men’ (which is a fictional book) and as you can see its gorgeous, the entire letter is, but the last 3 sentences just hold your breath, if you can feel their depth as much as I can..Ever Thine, Ever Mine, Ever Ours…
“When I was growing up I didn’t have a normal mom and dad or a regular family like everybody else. And I always knew that something was missing. But now I’m standing here today knowing that I have everything that I’m ever gonna need. You are my family.”
—Phoebe Buffay – The One with Phoebe’s Wedding, Season 10, Episode 12
6) Game of Thrones:
“You are the Moon of my Life. That is all I know, and all I need to know. And if this is a dream, I will kill the man who tries to wake me.“
—Khal Drogo – Valar Morghulis, Season 2, Episode 10
7) Sex and the City:
“The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you that you love, well, that’s just fabulous.”
—Carrie Bradshaw – An American Girl in Paris, Season 6, Episode 20
8) Pretty Little Liars:
“Most of my life I felt alone, even when I was with people. That was until I met you.”
—Caleb Rivers – It’s Alive-Season 2, Episode 1
9) Gossip Girls:
“I love you. I’m in love with you. I have tried to kill it, to run away from it, but I can’t and I don’t want to anymore.”
—Blair – The Return of the Ring, Season 5, Episode 24
10) One Tree Hill:
“When all my dreams come true, the one I want next to me- IT’S YOU”
—Lucas Scott – Some You Give Away, Season 4, Episode 9
Love is not overrated. It is pretty amazing. There’s a reason for all those songs…
